It began with pieces that had remained outside any finished release. Returning to them later changed their meaning. Together they felt less like unused material and more like a record of a particular period.
Because the work is built from traces. A sound, an image or a note can hold the atmosphere of the moment in which it was made. The archive changes each time those fragments are placed beside one another.
The book gives the music another pace. Images and text do not explain the recording. They create a parallel way into the same story, one that asks for looking and reading rather than listening.
They begin with the same material but are allowed to remain different. The recording carries duration and repetition. The book holds still images, fragments and pauses. Together they make the release complete.
Not a single message. I hope something more open remains: a place, a texture or a memory that feels partly personal and partly borrowed.
